Winter?

Today, as I write this, we're waiting for the temperature to reach 80 degrees, and the trees are starting to blossom.  The birds are all singing outside and it's actually humid.  Seems like a normal late spring or early summer morning...except it's the middle of March.  My crocuses just started blooming and it's been in the 60s or (mostly) 70s all week with no relief in sight!  We've been sleeping with the window open for several nights now, and I feel so confused!

This winter was a big change from last winter, as well.  Last winter we had over 85 inches of snow.  This winter?  Maybe 24.  We only had one good snowstorm, and that wasn't until the end of February!  I missed the snow.

Usually, it looks like this almost all winter.  This year?  A few weeks!  And it was only below zero for a few days.  I guess it was a nice break, but if it becomes normal, we may need to move up north to chase the winter!

Ten!

Henry's birthday was in February and it was his best ever.  He didn't know it, but we all coordinated to give him money so that he could finally, finally buy that 3DS he'd been wanting forEVER.

After visiting the Mall of America, trying the Mirror Maze there, and finally, finally getting that 3DS...we headed home for cake.  PB&J cake!  Chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream frosting and raspberry jam between the layers!  It was amazing and perfect for this PB&J-loving boy.

My little man is growing up so fast!

Couldn't wait

To show this project off!  We've been busy here--sorry for the lack of blog posts.  I am going to do a bunch today to automatically post for the next while.  I've got some catching up to do.

But I digress...Like I said, Brad and I have been busy.  We (I, really) got tired of the house being unfinished and so we've started a push to get things done around here.  It started with hiring an awesome friend to fix up our drywall issues (because I have learned how much I hate doing that stuff).  After everything was moved out of our room to fix all the nail pops, I decided that there was no way I was moving things out again to paint sometime in the near future, and that the painting was going to get done NOW.  So it did!  The end result is stunning!

To start with, the "before" pictures:

Homer supervised from the bed.

Are you ready for the big reveal?

I am so in love with this room!  Words can't express how happy it makes me!  We still have a few things to finish up--staining the side tables to match the bed, a shelf above the bed and probably hanging a few things on the walls.  Also, I am undecided about keeping my yarn in my room now.  It may go downstairs to a craft room (the office is getting a makeover soon).  For now, this is my favorite room in the world!
