Summer Day

Today was one of those perfect summer days.

We met our friends at William O'Brien State Park for the afternoon.  We hiked, we geocached, we found and ate wild raspberries.  We found bat houses and saw the bats snuggled in together for the day, and even heard them squeaking.  We waded in the water (for a brief time), watched the fish swim under our feet while we were standing on the fishing dock enjoying the sun, and even saw some large cranes and a crawdad.

Then we came home, ate some dinner, and the kids played in the yard with the hose, taking turns squirting each other and random objects.  I got to sit and read my book (Anna Karenina--it's really good, if you haven't read it yet) and watch them play.  Then bath/shower time and bed.

Yes, there were a few times of tears and unhappiness.  It seems like there's always some of that.  But overall it was a perfect summer day.

Yay - thanks for spending the day with us! We had a great time :) We finished it off with some time in the backyard, homemade "blizzards" showers and a movie. Oh, and a trip to Target! I got some of those lunch boxes and a basket for my mom. They were regular price at our Target though - boo.
