Mickman Brothers Field Trip

On Friday, we attended our 4-H club meeting for the month.  We all met at a really fantastic greenhouse/nursery called Mickman Brothers, one that our family really enjoys visiting a few times a year.

First we made holiday centerpieces out of balsam, white pine, a snowman decoration, and pine cones.  Everyone really enjoyed this activity, and we're trying to keep the centerpieces cool and watered so they will last a lot longer.  The kids did fantastic work.

After we finished with that, Mr. Mickman himself came out to give us a tour of their holiday operations.  WOW.  Seeing all those people working on wreaths, sprays, garlands, (the list goes on...) all destined for different parts of the country, was fascinating.  And it smelled amazing.  The Mickmans are quite the innovators and his stories were great to hear.

So far, we're enjoying 4-H and we've barely gotten started.  I guess that's a good sign!
